Wauseon FFA At The Fulton County Fair

The Fulton County Fair was held on August 28 to September 4. Many of the Wauseon FFA chapter members were involved in activities during this years fair. The Wauseon FFA Chapter members were involved in working the milkshake stand, pork stand, beef stand, creating projects to be displayed, and taking care of animal barns including the baby animal barn. Some members were on the Jr. Fair Board, this included Alex Pursel, Sam Richer, and Emily Franklin. Their duties on the Jr Fair board was a cluster of jobs that included setting up the animal barns, helping with animal showing, and other jobs around the Fair.

There were many other FFA members in animal showing as well, This included cattle, swine, rabbit, and goat. Placing in these competitions were , Mason Creager reserved for his swine showmanship, followed by Emily Franklin in 2nd place for her market class and Alex Pursel in 4th place for her market class. Hayley Chamberlain in 2nd place for her market goat and 5th in showmanship . Sara Rufenacht participated in the market and breeding rabbits and was awarded an A for her tremendous effort towards her rabbits this year. Abby Schmunk placed 5th in her market class for her dairy feeder calf.

FFA advisor, Katie Black, and her Animal Science class were in charge of the baby animals barn. The duties of each student were to sweep the floors, feed the animals, check on the feed and the animals hygiene and overall well being of the animals. Each student of the class had to do this at least twice to get full credit for this activity.

Not every FFA member were involved in a activity in the Fulton County Fair, but every member were to make a fair project to be displayed at the fair this year. First year members in the Wauseon FFA made lamps, second year members made garden decorations, and three and four year members made Hillbilly Golf, also known as ladder ball. Alot of FFA members were awarded A’s for their projects and B’s. These gradings are varied of how much time and effort the FFA members put in their projects.
