October 12, 2014Updated:December 31, 2020No Comments2 Mins Read

(October 9th, 2014)-FAYETTE: Finding themselves down two sets to one, the Lady Eagles of Fayette refused to give up, clawing their way back into the match and snatching a victory from the visitors from North Central.

The 32 assists and 3 aces of Hannah Machacek were pivotal in the Fayette comeback, as were McKenzee Schaffner’s 36 digs. Teammate Jessie Wheeler added 14 kills and 3 aces in the rally as well.

Fayette fell behind early in the match, losing the first set 20-25. They were able to flip that score in game 2, taking the set 25-20 to even out the series. North Central responded with a strong performance in game 3, which they claimed with a 25-17 win. Facing a third and final loss, the hometown Eagles dominated game 4 to once again tie the series, earning a 25-12 victory in the set. Game 5 was a war, with neither side relenting with the match on the line. Fayette was able to pull away late, though, slipping past North Central 15-12 in a series winning set.

Alyssa Swank had a spectacular game in the loss, patrolling the net to make 11 blocks. Fellow North Central teammate Rachel Oxender recorded 16 assists and 4 aces, while Makayla Hayes slammed down 8 kills.
