The Montpelier Park Board meeting of March 1, 2023 started at 7 p.m. The minutes of the February 1, 2023 meeting and financial statements were approved as presented before Scott Gordon launched into the Pony League report.

The Pony League has 14 members this year, a spring league for the first-time ever, and plans on doing a reverse raffle to raise funds.

Shawn Owen then gave the Youth League Baseball report and discussed the details of plans to re-turf the baseball batting cages.

The Youth League plans to join the Pony League in their reverse raffle, which has a prize of two Tigers tickets, plus parking and gas.

Tiffany Thomas and Brian Cooley gave the girls softball report, and a motion was carried to approve the umpire fees for this year.

The Pool and Park Maintenance report detailed spring cleaning that they have started to work hard on, as well as the projected expenses for new pool equipment.

Lifeguard classes are being looked into, but trying to find a location to teach the classes has been difficult.

There are also plans in place for the hiring of help for spring cleanup and summer maintenance.

A proof of the Founders Park sign was approved for review, and up to $3,000 was requested for Halloween decorations with $2,000 being requested for Christmas decorations. These requests were made by the Friends of the Montpelier Parks, Inc.

The Easter Egg hunt dates are set for April 1, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Municipal Park and on April 7, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Storrer Park.
