A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 25th at the Fayette School Cafeteria. The meeting will be in regard to zoning the Township.

Zoning is the regulation of the use of land and buildings that permit a community to control development. Currently, Gorham Township is not zoned.

Township Trustee Jason Simon explained a few reasons why the township is looking implementing zoning.

These reasons include better control of how projects like the new solar field being built come into the township, and the possible future of marijuana legalization. Recreational marijuana legalization efforts continue to be brought up in Ohio.

Simon explained that, with the new zoning in place, they will be able to put restrictions in place for company’s wishing to come in to sell or grow marijuana, with the option also being available to prevent one from coming in at all.

Everyone that lives in the township is invited to come and give their opinions. Simon stated, “the more public input, the better off we will be.”

He also explained that they want the community to be involved and that they want to know how people want it to be handled.

This is the first meeting for this project, and more will be taking place at a later time.
