The Bryan Board of Public Affairs met April 26, 2023 at 9 a.m. and began their meeting with the pledge of allegiance.

The first thing on the agenda was approving the minutes from both the April 18, 2023 regular and special joint meeting.

The Board then heard the concerns over federal funding and grant application incentive programs available for the Auglaize Hydroelectric Plant.

The first deadline is May 8, 2023 and the second is June 20, 2023. The Board voted to allow for these applications to be submitted in their carry of this resolution.

The Board then voted to recognize National Drinking Water Week, which is observed May 7-13.

This is to recognize the role that water plays in our daily lives, as well as the professionals that work hard to ensure citizens have a steady supply.

Approval was given to post an open account clerk position after the approval of the resignation of the account clerk due to accepting a different position.

A request to reclassify a tenured clerk / treasurer employee was approved before the Board approved a request to temporarily rehire a previous employee as a part-time clerk / treasurer to help with the organization of the relatively new department.

The Board then motioned to cancel the May 2, 2023 meeting before paying the bills.

Thanks, and good luck was offered to the new hires before Mayor Carrie Schlade thanked BMU and Bryan administration for allowing these employment additions.

Water Week was commented on, with officials relating how “water is at the forefront of our minds” as we prepare for warmer weather.

The Board then entered executive session to discuss the acquisition of property.
