WAUSEON BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Approves Of Repairs To High School Pool

At the July 17th, 2023 meeting of the Wauseon School Board they approved the purchase of materials needed for work on the high school pool.

The board approved Earl Mechanical to repair the pool cool air handler in the amount $27,190 and a purchase order with Earl Mechanical for no more than $58,500 for a chiller compressor.

At the board’s discretion, competitive bidding was waived as detailed in Ohio Revised Code Section 3313.46 due to the urgency of the repairs.

Also approved was a Then & Now Certificate with Toledo Edison totaling $9,733.16 for electric service in May and June.

In other business after a discussion regarding the district’s strategic planning, the board accepted donations from:

-$1,000 from North Star BlueScope Steel LLC to Wauseon Elementary with $500 designated for the Food Service Donation Key and $500 for purchasing student supplies.

-$18,500 from the Wauseon Athletic Boosters to the athletic department to be used to give 7th-12th grade students free admission to all 2023-2024 home regular season athletic events.

The following personnel items were then approved:

-Approved William Hanak as Substitute bus Driver and Trevor Rodriguez as Volunteer Junior High Football Coach.

– The Rachel Wixey and Substitute List as presented.

-Accepted resignations from Alexandrea Sauber as WPS Intervention Specialist and Garrett Grime as WMS Math Teacher.

-One-year contracts were offered to: Caitlyn Eash – WPS Intervention Specialist; Susan Coll – WES Teacher Aide; Sydney Zirkle – Assistant Volleyball Coach; Erin Mazurowski – 9th Grade Volleyball Coach; Brad Heilman – Boys Golf Coach.

Before entering executive session, where no action was taken, the board approved Bella Frank, Isabella Knapp, Camryn Rash, and Austyn Schweinhagen as student pool workers for 2023-2024, NEOLA policy revisions/deletions/additions for a second reading, 2023-2024 student handbooks, and an agreement with Nationwide Children’s Hospital Toledo for Sports Program Services.

The August meeting of the Wauseon School Board will be held on August 14, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at the Wauseon Middle School Cafetorium.
