The Evergreen Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, July 17th. The meeting began at 6:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by approval of the agenda and minutes for June 26th and July 11th meeting.

With no correspondence to address, the board moved to discuss financial reports. Financial reports for June 2023 were approved along with the additional following items.

FY24 Federal grants, a certificate of the total amount for all sources available for expenditures and balances for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 2023, and appropriation modifications to amend resources.

Items listed under a personnel consent agenda were approved next, along with a retirement agreement and supplemental contracts for 2023-2024.

Approval was also given to rescind and approve district supplemental contracts for 2023-2024 and for a new bus driver substitute.

Board members then moved to approve a resolution to proceed and propose the renewal of an annual tax levy on school district income.

An agreement with Baker’s propane for $0.99/gallon, school bus stops for the 2023-2024 school year, pricing for athletic passes, and a transfer of Mrs. Danett Setmire (EHS Art Teacher) to (EES Art Teacher) were approved next before giving thanks and recognition to Skye Cinema for providing movie tickets to the Class of 2023.

Supervisor reports were then given, with Athletic Director Dylan Henricks speaking first. The boys’ soccer numbers are high for this year which should allow for JV games.

Normal sized paper calendars will be an addition this year and will be passed out to businesses in the community.

The athletic boosters were also thanked after they added digital clocks to the locker rooms. August 5th will be the annual boosters memorial golf outing, September 15th is Homecoming, October 6th is Senior night and November 18th will see a reverse raffle.

Superintendent Eric Smola spoke next and stated all teaching jobs for the coming year have been filled.

The building and grounds employees have been working hard for the start of the year. Parking lots will be patched and sealed during the following week and pricing will be obtained for sidewalk repairs.

The wiring will be installed soon for the new 911 system in order to be ready for the start of the school year.

The new food service provider is getting everything situated for the upcoming school year, with new foods coming that have not been seen in the past, and free breakfast being available.

With no other business to attend to the meeting was adjourned at 6:16 p.m.
