A groundbreaking ceremony took place for the new Hilton Tru Hotel on Monday, August 7th. The new hotel is being built on the same property where the Magnuson Hotel is currently located, at 8225 State Road 108 in Wauseon.

Ramatika Management LLC. acquired the Magnuson Hotel several years ago and operated it for a few years while they started planning the preconstruction work for Tru by Hilton.

They believe that the lot looks like a good site to build on and hopefully will bring lots of visitors to Wauseon once the hotel is open.

Some demolition took place back in April, everything has been addressed, excavation is complete, and the building pad will be started on in a few weeks.

The Tru by Hilton will feature a fitness center, laundry, complimentary breakfast and 98 guest rooms with double queens to kings as well as some suites. This hotel is franchised, and it is a recent prototype, not a dated property.

“We are very excited since we’ve acquired the hotel site several years ago and now, we have the opportunity to go vertical and bring 98 rooms of the Hilton franchise to Wauseon Ohio,” said Development Director Yush Chandat.

The hotel is looking to open up by either early summer or early fall 2024.
