The Blakeslee Village Council met on Wednesday September 6, 2023 at 6 p.m. Present were Council President Eric Jenkins, Councilors Robert Mohre, Shelly Cox, Cletus Radabaugh, and Nick Reed, with Councilor Rosemary Alexander absent.

Also present were Mayor Cody Reynolds, Fiscal Officer Courtny Osborn, and Police Chief Randy Mohre.

The minutes of the July meeting were approved as presented, as were the monthly financial reports.

With no visitors to address, council moved on to legislative discussion.

Mayor Reynolds brought up the idea of a Christmas parade. Feasibility and semantics still need to be figured out, but council expressed support for the idea.

Councilor Mohre questioned what grant funding could be available to the village, and the mayor promised to look into it.

Councilor Radabaugh inquired into whether the fox that had been sighted in town had left, and the mayor answered that the game warden reported that it looks to have moved on.

Mayor Reynolds then reported that certain paperwork, needed to be submitted to the local school board for participation in the November election, did not get submitted on time.

This means that a new mayor will be appointed in the beginning of 2024.

With nothing further to address, the Blakeslee Village Council voted to adjourn, set to meet next on Wednesday Oct. 4, 2023 at 6 p.m.
