The Metamora Chamber of Commerce held their meeting on Wednesday, November 8th. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The board started by approving AJ from St. Mary’s Meats as president, Marrianne Gleckler as board member, and the minutes from the previous meeting.

Next came old business, the 2024 calendars that were discussed at the previous meeting are a go and will be printed. All the insurance benefits are now loaded up onto the members website for members to look at.

The chamber is still looking for members for their membership committee and is encouraging the community to come join.

The board then went on to discuss some new business. Party in the Park for 2024 will be June 7th, 8th, and 9th. On December 9th, Santa will be at Koelsch Farms from 10-1 p.m. and the chamber is looking for volunteers to help during this event. This year’s Christmas Parade will be on Sunday, December 3rd at 5:30 p.m.

The annual meeting coming up in January will be at the Vets Hall in Assumption and the meal being served will be $10.

The board would like RSVPs to this meeting so that they have a count for food. Michelle from Anthem and Rachel from NOWAC will be attending this meeting to help explain members insurance benefits.

The committee then went on to state that they have two applications for the scholarship program and also the food pantry is in desperate need of food and funds to continue to help those in need.

Then, the board went over their finance reports before opening the floor up to open forum. Evergreen’s Superintendent Eric Smola addressed everyone to let them know about some upcoming events happening at the school.

Evergreen will be having a Safety Drill on November 17th and a reverse raffle on November 18th. This year’s musical will be Elf and it will be held on November 17th, 18th, and 19th.

The board discussed that they would like more businesses to come to meetings and be more involved in decision making especially when it comes to the finance part.

They are encouraging all of the businesses in the Metamora area to come out to the meetings. The board is also working on incentives to get more businesses to show up.

With nothing else to discuss, the board adjourned at 6:51 p.m. The next annual meeting will be on Wednesday, January 17th.
