(Wednesday, May 13th, 2015): PETTISVILLE—Pettisville’s admirable regular season granted the Blackbirds distinctive advantages while heading into baseball’s post-season. In the Division IV matchup between Pettisville High School and Hicksville High School, offensive prowess would be key for both teams in the divisional matchup.

Junior Christian Barhite opened on the mound for the Blackbirds. Hicksville’s offense would strike early and hard, scoring 1 run in the top of the 1st and an additional 3 runs in the following inning.

Senior Noah Miller would take over the mound after Barhite would throw 1.1 innings. An additional run in the 4th inning would put Hicksville up 5-0 as Pettisville desperately floundered for any offensive endurance

Pettisville eventually mustered 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to close the gap at 5-2. In the top of the 7th inning, Hicksville drove in 1 final run, causing the Blackbirds to rally against the Aces and summon pure focus in order to surge ahead. Despite a 2-run gain in the bottom of the 7th inning, Hicksville would close the book on Pettisville with a 6-4 victory on the road.

Barhite would get the loss for Pettisville amassing 5 hits and 4 runs, walking 4 errors and 2 walks. Noah Miller would pitch the remainder of the game totaling 2 runs on 2 hits. Offensively, Eli King dominated at the plate for the Blackbirds going 2 for 2 with two doubles and 4 RBIs. Freshman Landon Roth would go 2 for 3 while Miller would land a double, going 1 for 3.

Pettisville’s overall 2015 record slumped to 10-9 in the season-endingloss to Hicksville at home.
