(May 14th, 2015) – HICKSVILLE: After earning an impressive victory over Fayette in the first round of Sectionals, Stryker traveled to Hicksville to play the Lady Aces for the opportunity to earn their way into District play. A huge third inning on the part of the Aces shell shocked the Panther girls, leading to an end to their post-season run.
Stryker lost to Hicksville 27-1.
After giving up just 1 run in the first inning, and 4 more in the second, the Lady Panther defense struggled to slow down the Lady Aces in the third. Stryker allowed 17 runs in that frame, and 5 more the fourth. Stryker was able to score a run in the top of the fourth, thanks to an RBI double by Emily Cadwell. It wasn’t enough, however, as the Panther girls fell.
Katie Yoder, the lone senior Panther, hit for a single on Stryker’s behalf. While on base, she flashed her speed, blazing through the base paths to earn a steal. Emma Shindledecker and Sierra Walters each put up a single as well.
Miranda Maynard took the loss for Stryker, pitching in all four innings required of her.
