Thursday evening the Montpelier School Board accepted and acknowledged numerous monetary donations with the largest of them being the Jason Saneholtz Memorials of $19,142. Jason, who had passed away as a result of an accident, had been the golf coach for the Montpelier golf team.
A golf simulator will be purchased with the donations as a memorial.
The Athletic Boosters made donations of $3,716.77 to the girls’ basketball program, $1,655.80 to the boys’ basketball program, $150 to the volleyball program, and $105.41 to the golf team. School district donations were noted from Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #2246 for $5,000 and $2,500 from Shopko Hometown Foundation. Fathers Interested In Restoring Sports Traditions donated $766.31 to the flag football program. The athletic department received $800 from Great Midwest Sports. The Williams County College Fair received $250 from the Montpelier Academic Boosters. Two donations from anonymous donors in the amount of $321.25 went to Share the Experience. Locomotion received $100 from St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
The Board changed the status of Benjamin Lupo from High School Musical Director to co-HS Musical Director with Tayna Dutkiewicz for the 2012-2013 school year. Anna Kauffman, Nicole Manahan and Kacie Vitek were approved as new teacher mentors. Approved Kimberly Goosman, Lora Hubby, Elizabeth Benedict and Randall Stuckey to the substitute teacher list for the 2012-2013 school year.
The resignation of Rebecca Barry was accept as the three hour per day bus driver and moved to the substitute bus driver list for the 2012-2013 school year effective as of November 2. Effective November 5, Lori Poynter was approved as a 3 hour per day bus driver.
Additional action by the Board for the evening included:
- Approval of various policies.
- The 2013-2014 school calendar was approved.
- Approved resolution honoring American Education Week, November 11-17
- Resolution to adopt a flexible fringe benefit plan for the employees of the Montpelier Exempted Village Schools effective January 1, 2013.
- Reappointed Tashia Thompson for a second seven-year term as Montpelier Public Library Board Trustee beginning January 1, 2013.
- Approved the rules for 2012-2013 girls basketball and wrestling teams.
The board went into executive session to discuss the appointment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of an employee or investigation of charges or complaints against an employee, official, licensee or student, with no action taken upon return to open session.
