The Montpelier Village Council met on April 22, 2024 at 6 p.m. After approving the agenda, councilors Heather Freese, Nathan Thompson, Melissa Ewers, Chris Kannel, and Kevin Motter moved to approve the minutes from their April 8th meeting.
Alongside them were Deputy Manager Justin Houk, Village Manager Jason Rockey, Mayor Steve Yagelski, and Clerk of Council Molly Collert.
Then, they greeted Gaylynn Harris who shared the details of this year’s National Day of Prayer. The community prayer breakfast is set for May 2nd at 8:30 a.m. at 402 Broad Street in Montpelier, with the continental breakfast starting at 8:30 and prayer at 9 a.m. This year will feature Councilor Nathan Thompson as keynote speaker.
Mr. Rozell then came in to share that the curbs at his property are too high. He asked that they be cleaned and sealed, as there is excessive growth on the curbs.
Mr. Rozell also shared that council should evaluate the use of golf carts, especially for seniors that aren’t able to drive. They thanked him for his input, and moved on to ask council members if there were any updates or reports.
With nothing to address, Village Manager Jason Rockey began his report, sharing that a couple of renovation projects have been put out for bid.
The Williams County Land Bank will evaluate the proposals, with the bids being awarded to those with the best idea for the land’s use.
319 East Water and 419 West Wabash are the properties being looked at, with the bidding process for investors and contractors, with more information available at www.mvpo.org/wclrc .
Those interested in viewing the properties can call town hall and ask for Deputy Manager Justin Houk or Village Manager Jason Rockey.
Feedback for project proposals will be coming in near the end of this week, with Mayor Yagelski saying “good, I hope it works out.”
A motion was then made at 6:22 p.m. for council to enter into executive session, set to meet next May 13, 2024 at 6 p.m.
