The Shelly Company is Ohio’s leading limestone, concrete and asphalt paving company, with more than 90 locations and 1,600 employees to conveniently service 81 of 88 counties in the state.

Their years of experience as a limestone, concrete and asphalt paving company and various resources is what makes them a leading provider in road construction and other construction materials.

On May 11th, The Shelly Company opened the doors to their Montpelier North Wildlife Habitat Site, an accredited Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) site, for their annual spring open house. Sand and gravel operations began at the site in the 1950’s and continued production until 1998.

Subsequent reclamation led to the establishment of grassland, forest, aquatic, and avian habitats which have been recognized as Gold Certified by The Wildlife Habitat Council, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-lobbying group of corporations and individuals dedicated to enhancing and restoring wildlife habitat.

To achieve Gold Certification through WHC, The Shelly Company has removed past industrial equipment from the property and repurposed the shop as an educational facility.

Strategic grading and seeding with native plant species have helped stabilize and enrich soils on the previously mined property.

The Shelly Company continues to maintain and improve the site to provide habitat for native and migratory species.

Additionally, they welcome community engagement through educational, limited recreational, and community service

OPEN HOUSE … The Spring open house included lunch, arts and crafts, as well as fun safety, fishing, and archery activities.
