FAYETTE BOARD OF EDUCATION: Building Administrators Give Summer Updates

The Fayette Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, June 24th. The meeting began at 6:30 p.m. with board members immediately entering into executive session to discuss personnel items.

Members returned from executive session at 6:50 p.m. and welcomed members of the public who wished to speak.

Those who wished to speak were Ashley Borer, Dave Borer, and Mary Borer regarding concerns on student discipline and future respectable community people.

Then came reports and updates, with the superintendent report coming first. It was stated that summer programming for students had begun and that students were experiencing gardening and learning from seed to table. They also have so many other activities which include the Pound Class from FCHC.


From the treasurer, FY24 appropriations modifications and final appropriations are completed and ready for approval. FY25 temporary appropriations are approved at 75% of FY24 actual expenditures.

No general fund transfers are needed this year, both athletic and café funds are adequate to begin FY25. The high school principal then spoke and informed the board of the following.

This past year saw another year where 100% of the students graduated, and this will appear on our State Report Card.


Working on FY 25 and implementing an ALT (Accelerated Learning Time) Class at the end of the day 35 minutes.

This will allow students to receive additional intervention, acceleration, and support. This period will also foster additional communication between learners and teachers.

Lastly, the elementary principal stated the following. May was a busy month, The school closed with many successful field trips for the students, awards days, and field days.

Many students were acknowledged on the last day of school for a variety of awards. School officials also celebrated students’ growth on state assessments with glow-in-the-dark dodgeball! There are 36 students currently fully enrolled in preschool and all full day spots are filled.


The following items were then approved by the board. Under financial issues, the financial report for May 2024, modifications for appropriations for FY24, final appropriations for FY24, temporary appropriations for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 2025, at 75% of FY24 actual expenditures, a list of items for disposal, and a list of donations.

The following items listed under students were then approved. Leslie Burrow as the 2024 Nora Nash Smith Scholarship recipient. The income eligibility scale for free and reduced lunch prices for the 2024-2025 school year.

The 2024-2025 school year student handbook, athlete’s handbook, coaches’ handbook, Chromebook guidelines and procedures, teacher’s handbook, student education and curriculum guide, preschool handbook, and student fees.

The following items listed under agreements and policies were then approved by the board. A low bid from Reiter Dairy for 2024-2025 through the Southwestern Ohio Education Purchasing Council (EPC). Membership with NBEC/NWOCA for FY 2025. A low bid from HPS for school food purchasing through June 30, 2025. A one-year agreement with NBEC for NOVA online virtual courses and support for FY25.

A one-year agreement with Grow Your Mind, LLC for Speech-Language Pathologist services for FY25 at a rate of $70 per hour. A one-year agreement with Northern Buckeye for Virtual CIO Services for FY 25.

A Memorandum of Agreement for Deposit of Public Funds with The Sherwood State Bank for the period of August 8, 2024, through August 7, 2027.

A motion was then made, and approved, for a resolution declaring it necessary to levy a replacement tax for the purpose of current expenses of the Normal Memorial Library and replacement tax for the purpose of current expenses of the Normal Memorial Library and requesting the Fulton County Auditor to certify the total current tax valuation of the Fayette Local School District and the dollar amount of revenue that would be generated by that levy.

Several items listed under personnel were approved next before the board moved to adjourn at 7:14 p.m.
