Montpelier celebrated their 68th Annual Bean Days this past weekend. “Don’t Rain on Our Parade” was the theme for the event this year.
Events continued through the downtown area throughout Friday evening and into Saturday. Friday evening started off with their annual Bean Tasting taking place throughout downtown with many businesses partaking in the competition.
Three local veterans did the bean voting. 1st place was awarded to the See & Do Club, 2nd place Drop Tine, and 3rd place the Montpelier Public Library.
There was also voting that the community could do through a QR code at each bean tasting table to vote for their favorite. People’s Choice went to the Montpelier Police Department.
Bean Days also included a plethora of free things for kids to do. Free events included a climbing wall, bounce houses, furry overstuffed animal karts from Four of a Kind, a bucket brigade, cruise-in, face painting, balloon animals, Laurel’s Characters & Co. including Moana, Rey, and Captain America, as well as activities throughout the day Saturday at Founder’s Park for kids.
Bean Days wrapped up most of the festivities concluding the “Don’t Rain on Our Parade” bean days parade starting at 6pm on Saturday evening. And as requested, it did not rain on their parade!
Top float winners for the parade were: commercial—Fackler Monument, non-commercial—West Eagle Presbyterian Church, Youth—Livestock Locomotives. Concluding the parade, the event still held some kids’ activities until 8pm then followed by live music performed by the Leather and Lace Band at Founder’s Park.
Between the activities, food, parade, cruise-in, free kids activities and of course bean tasting, Montpelier’s Bean Days saw an amazing turn out from the community and hosted yet another successful event for the community.
