Williams County Recorder Patty Rockey served as speaker for the annual Star Recorder Chapter meeting for Montpelier Chapter #270, Women of the Moose, Thursday, Sept. 3rd. She spoke about the duties of those working in the Recorder’s office, which oversees responsibilities in the county records center and in the recorder’s office in the courthouse. The county recorder’s office maintains records regarding land and properties in the county involving deeds, liens and mortgages and assists the public and title searchers in locating pertinent records. The office also records military discharge papers when contacted by a veteran. Mrs. Rockey will be seeking re-election in 2016. During the meeting, members who have achieved the Star Recorder Degree were honored. Following adjournment, refreshments were served, door prizes were awarded and a quiz was given about the sun, the only star in our galaxy which is not included in a constellation.
