The Stryker Village Council met for its Regular Meeting on April 21, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was opened with a prayer by Nick Woodall from United Brethren Church, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Bob Davis, a local Army veteran.
The prior month’s meeting minutes were accepted with no additions or corrections. The financial report also presented business as normal.
Mayor Joey Beck reminded the village of important events coming up. Big trash pickup is scheduled for May 3rd. A list of approved items can be obtained at the village office.
“Nothing should be late or set-out more than a week prior. Just realize, or understand, that we do have people come through and look to pick out the metals, which actually helps us as a village in terms of cost,” the mayor added.
A free electronic recycling event is being held for the community on May 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This can be found at the WiltonKeck Warehouse, on 807 E. Maple Street, Bryan, OH.
This provides residents with a great opportunity to safely dispose of any electronics or wires. Accepted items include, but are not limited to: laptops, phones, speakers, assorted wires, and Christmas light cords. A complete list of accepted items is available for review at the village office.
Fall Fest and Trick or Treat have officially been scheduled for October 25, and they are to run in conjunction with each other. This is the earliest a date has been set, but the council is looking forward to a fun-filled community weekend together!
Resolution 03-2025-01 had its second reading tonight, and it was accepted without contest. This is a cybersecurity policy designed to safeguard the information, assets, and technology infrastructure of the Stryker Village Clerk’s Office.
The goal is to protect sensitive data, maintain the integrity of systems, and ensure the privacy and security of citizen’s personal information from potential cyber threats and unauthorized access.
Police Chief, Steve Mendez, reported that several officers have completed multiple advanced training programs. This includes active shooter response and basic SWAT training, along with many others.
The Fiscal Officer stated that the issue with residents not receiving their water bills in the mail should be resolved shortly. Those with a post office box received their monthly bill with no issue, however those who use a mail route may experience longer wait times.
The USPS mail carriers must deliver mail according to their designated routes, which has extended the time it takes for some residents to receive their bills. Anyone with questions should contact the village office for updates.
With no other official business to attend to, the Stryker Village Council adjourned their meeting at 6:22 p.m.
