Families, students, and supporters from across Fulton County gathered Sunday afternoon at the Fulton County Fairgrounds for the ‘We Run As One’ event, a community initiative aimed at raising awareness about youth mental health.

Organized by the Youth Advisory Council (YAC), a group of local high school students committed to making a difference, the event attracted dozens of participants who came out to support the mental well-being of young people in the area. The event began at 2 p.m. in a lively atmosphere filled with music, laughter, and a shared sense of purpose.

Attendees had the chance to participate in either a timed 5K race or a family-friendly, untimed 1-mile walk/run open to individuals ages 5 and older.

Both events promoted community involvement and highlighted the significance of unity in addressing mental health issues.

In addition to the run, the fairgrounds buzzed with activity, featuring free games, family-friendly entertainment, and tables from local organizations offering resources, information, and support.

The core message of ‘We Run As One’ focused on connection and compassion. YAC members stressed the importance of fostering stronger relationships between youth and caring adults, emphasizing the increasing mental health challenges that students face today.

Through peer support, open dialogue, and access to resources, the council aims to remind every young person that they are not alone and that help is available.

The event was made possible with the support of numerous volunteers and community partners who recognize the critical need for youth mental health advocacy in Fulton County.

Organizers hope to build on the success of this year’s event and continue spreading awareness in the future.

For those interested in learning more about the Youth Advisory Council or how to get involved, students entering grades 9 through 12 for the 2025–26 school year are encouraged to visit www.FultonCountyYAC.com.
