During the June 16th village council meeting, officials addressed a range of topics, including upcoming fall maintenance, new business developments, and persistent concerns over nuisance properties.
The council announced that creek cleaning efforts will resume this fall to help manage the seasonal buildup of foliage following the summer months.
Property owners were reminded that any items located within village easements must be removed before that time to ensure the process runs smoothly and efficiently.
Looking ahead to local development, residents can look forward to two new businesses opening their doors in the Farmers Wagon building next to DM Creations.
The Wagon Wheel Java and Creamery and The Wagon Wheel Flower and Gift Shop are both set to join the village’s growing business community in 2026.
Council also reviewed recent community activities, noting that the fourth annual Party in the Park was a success once again.
In support of upcoming youth events, the council approved a $150 purchase to provide items for a movie night for local children.
However, not all discussions were celebratory. A tense conversation unfolded regarding the village’s approach to nuisance violations.
Council member Lee Ann Miller voiced her frustration, stating she often feels alone in her efforts to address neglected properties and that little action has been taken.
Suggestions were made to consider reaching out to Fulton County to see if they have someone who could assist in managing the village’s enforcement needs.
The next regular council meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 7th at 7:00 p.m.
