VARSITY FOOTBALL: Holgate Pulls Away In Second Half To Upend Stryker, 36-16

Holgate 36, Stryker 16

STRYKER – In a Northern 8 Conference opening night matchup featuring two new head coaches, Holgate prevailed with a 36-16 victory over Stryker.

The contest marked the head coaching debuts of Adam Byram (Holgate) and Jamie Grime (Stryker).


Stryker got on the scoreboard first with Cody Stewart connecting with Jacob Ramon on a 12-yard scoring pass in the second quarter. He also scored again in the fourth quarter catching a 24-yard aerial from Eli Capps.

Holgate got two touchdowns each from Brody McMillian and Santos Pecina. McMillan scored on a 39-yard run and caught an 8-yard TD pass from Mateo Gomez. Pecina scored on runs of 15 and 16 yards.

Stryker hits the road again at North Adams, Michigan on Thursday.
