Edon Village Council met in regular session on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the village council chambers.

Following a roll call of council members, Lee Lawrence, Jeff Pease, David Loughborough, Brian Shaffer, and Austin Thiel were in attendance. Dan Ankney was absent.

Council then approved the previous council meeting minutes, along with the financial statements and the payment of bills.

Authorization was given to village administrator Chad Ordway to enter into an agreement with ODOT (Ohio Department of Transportation) to improve pedestrian safety and resurface Indiana Street (State Route 34) and Michigan Street (State Route 49) in the downtown area.

Council then approved the emergency resolution following the suspension of the rules, authorizing Ordway to sign all documents necessary to effectuate the agreement.

Lawrence made a motion for the council to approve the first reading of Ordinance 06-25, which was passed. The ordinance will change the name of Woodville Street, which runs north and south on the eastern edge of the village, to Toner Drive.

Ordway updated Mayor Duane Thiel and council members on issues and projects that are going on this month.

The village administrator informed the council that the Woodville property has been completed and transferred to the Williams County Landbank.

He is also continuing to work with the Ohio EPA on the plans for the wastewater treatment plant, so they can be approved.

The village-wide tire pickup is currently going on, with the fall leaf pickup beginning soon.

Thiel reported that the safety committee had met to discuss and review the Franklin Street turn corner issue. The committee thought it was best to leave it as it is.

Lawrence then asked to review if the village could possibly reconstruct at the time, the road and waterline is replaced. Thiel noted he would like to set up another safety committee meeting to discuss the issue.

A motion was made for the approval of a Downtown Revitalization Committee consisting of Lawrence, Loughborough, and Kim Maag.

The next council meeting is on Monday, November 17, 2025.
