The Metamora Village Council held its meeting on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by approval of the minutes from October 6th and a review of September’s financial reports and employee expenses.

First came recognition of the public, with Mayor Mossing addressing questions regarding data center rumors circulating in the community.

She clarified that no company has approached the village with any formal proposal, noting that if that were to happen, the public would be fully involved through scheduled meetings.

She further explained that the village’s current zoning updates, being handled by consultant Jacob Barnes through a grant, are unrelated to those rumors.

Barnes, who was recommended by other Fulton County communities, will submit drafts for review by the mayor, council, the administrator, and the planning commission before any final approval.

Sandy Witt then spoke and stated that a memorial tree and stone have been placed at the entrance to the Ten-Mile subdivision in honor of the Kreischer family.

Cheryl Robison followed with updates on downtown façade grant projects involving Jeff Truckor’s properties.

Work with DGL Engineers is progressing on the parking lot near The Farmers Wagon, and an architectural engineer has been retained for interior improvements. A new roof and siding on the Craft Box building are scheduled to begin on November 10.

Next, Mayor Mossing discussed the interest rates for the village’s MSB Public Funds account and StarOhio investment account, noting that the council may wish to consider which fund to allocate more money toward.

She also recommended that the village consider hiring an administrator able to work weekly hours, possibly 20 to 25 hours per week. Council agreed and moved to revisit the idea of hiring an Administrator.

During the fiscal officer’s report, two ordinances were read and passed under emergency measures. Ordinance 2025-16 authorized an amendment to the existing contract between the Fulton County Commissioners and the Village of Metamora, and Ordinance 2025-17 adopted the Fulton County 2025 Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Council also approved sewer credits for second meters totaling $518.97. Council then moved to pay the bills as presented before moving on to new business.

Under new business, the council held the first reading of Ordinance 2025-18, which proposes an annual 2% sewer rate increase going forward. It was then announced that work will soon begin on the 2026 budget, with road repair quotes to be provided.

Council also continued discussion on sidewalk repair and replacement programs, with work to be done for the review of policy models used in Toledo and Whitehouse.

Lastly, the zoning report was discussed, with it being stated that three properties received violation letters, which were issued on October 10. Following this, the meeting was then adjourned at 8:03 p.m.
