Four Area Runners Reach Podium At State Cross Country Championships

OBETZ, OHIO (November 1, 2025) – Four area cross country runners successfully reached the awards podium following their outstanding individual performances at the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships held on Saturday, November 1 at Fortress Obetz.


Ella Rhoades of Wauseon capped off a successful high school cross country career in the Division III girls meet. Rhoades was the area’s highest finisher with a third-place overall time of 18:20.22.

Also getting on the podium in the Division III girls’ race were Bryan’s Nicolette Stickney and Archbold’s Hadley Hudson.

Stickney wrapped up an outstanding cross-country career for the Lady Bears. The senior standout placed 17th overall with a clocking of 18:50.17. Hudson, who is only a sophomore, placed 23rd overall with a time of 18:56.68.


In the Division IV boys’ race, Fayette’s Ethan Lee, who was making his second consecutive trip to state, also earned first team All-Ohio honors. The junior standout finished 12th overall with a time of 16:04.74.

Earning second team All-Ohio honors was Bryan freshman John Deitemeyer, who was 36th overall in the Division III boys meet with a time of 16:20.27.

Deitemeyer also helped lead the Golden Bears to a 14th place effort in the Division III boys’ team standings with 324 points.

Joining Deitemeyer were junior Josiah Cummins who was 64th (16:41.41); sophomore Colton Sheline was 92nd (16;55.23); senior Khristopher Alspaugh was 102nd (17:00.55); junior Elijah Cummins was 163rd (17:41.56); senior Nye Bradbee was 182nd (18:10.95) and junior Spencer Woodward was 203rd (19:05.72).


In the Division III girls’ race, the Archbold Lady Streaks placed 21st out of 24 teams with 425 points.

Besides the 23rd place finish by Hadley Hudson, other finishers for the Blue and Gold were Natalie Schmucker who was 128th (20:54.53); Cagnee Grime was 148th (21:17.24); Madison Bowers was 163rd (21:42.95); Janae Murillo was 165th (21:48.04); Blaney Huffman was 175th (22:05.27) and Jovie Hudson was 186th (22:26.37).

Also competing were Alex Galvin of Pettisville who placed 75th overall (16:59.61) in the Division IV boys’ race. Addison Schang of Fayette was 67th (20:17.29) in the Division IV girls’ race and Clay Wasnich of Wauseon placed 100th (16:59.87) in the Division III boys meet.
