The Fulton County Junior Fair Livestock Sale Committee has announced that a Rate of Gain Competition will be held for the 2015-2016 year to encourage beef production.

Feeder calves will be available for purchase in mid November and will be slaughtered approximately 180-200 days later. By starting this contest in the fall, the calves are more readily available.

The same rules apply as in the past and are available at http://fulton.osu.edu/program-areas/4-h-youth-development, click on “Rate of Gain/Carcass Contest for Beef.”

Since the project will be completed before the fair, the steers will not be required to be halter broke, but you must sign up for this project (# 819-Rate of Gain/Carcass Contest) on your 2016 Fulton County 4-H Enrollment form.

If you are interested in participating in the 2015-2016 Rate of Gain/Carcass Contest, please contact Jim Savage at 419-822-5755 by October 30, 2015.
