The Jefferson Township Board of Trustees met in regular session on Monday, March 2, 2026, with Chairman Austin Poynter calling the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Trustees Austin Poynter and Brian Batterson were present. Scott Oberlin was absent. Fiscal Officer Linda Beck and Maintenance Supervisor Mark Bowers also attended. Chief Deputy Ben Baldwin was the only guest.
Minutes from the February 17, 2026 meeting were tabled until the next session.
During guest comments, Chief Deputy Baldwin presented information on the proposed Flock Camera System, a countywide initiative aimed at deterring crime through license plate reader cameras placed at major intersections.
Baldwin requested that each township consider funding two cameras at a cost of $3,000 per camera annually under a two-year contract.
Following discussion, trustees indicated they may be willing to participate if other local entities also committed to the project. The matter was tabled for further consideration.
In maintenance updates, Bowers reported that the catch basin in West Jefferson had been cleaned. Trustees approved township time sheets on a motion by Poynter, seconded by Batterson.
Under old business, Batterson stated trustees would need to sign a letter of intent to move forward with the Selwyn Drive repaving and drainage grant project.
The estimated cost ranged from $330,000 to $360,000, with the township responsible for 10 percent of the total. The issue was tabled.
In new business, trustees approved Super Blanket Certificates 34-2026 through 44-2026, as well as Charge Vouchers 26-2026 through 28-2026 and Warrants 19236 through 19247.
Trustees also approved the fund status report totaling $1,087,225.27.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:31 p.m. The next Jefferson Township meeting will be held Monday, March 16, at 7:00 p.m.
