Van Wert 51, Wauseon 30
PAULDING – Wauseon saw its season come to an end as the Indians fell to Van Wert, 51-30, in a Division IV boys district basketball semifinal game at Paulding High School.
The Indians, who bowed out with an 8-16 record, kept it close in the first quarter despite trailing 15-12, before the Cougars eventually pulled away over the middle two quarters outscoring Wauseon, 28-5, in the span.
Xavier Kelly led a balanced scoring attack for Van Wert (18-6) with 11 points and Zach Crummey added 10 points. Griffin McCracken and Keaten Welch each contributed nine points.
Riley Riegsecker poured in 16 points to lead Wauseon and Jack Altstaetter added six points.
