Deaf History Month-Dawn Watts (2)Celebrate Deaf History Month at the Wauseon Public Library through April 15! Discover more about Deaf History Month through books, DVD’s, and an informational display. The display was set up and made possible by Sunshine Advocacy Advisor Dawn Watts and Library Director Amy Murphy. Among other things, Deaf History Month promotes the contributions of individual deaf Americans to U.S. society. How many of you know that Thomas Edison, a famous American inventor of the phonograph and the light bulb, was hard of hearing? He lost his hearing to scarlet fever. National Deaf History Month, March 13 to April 15, celebrates deaf history and promotes awareness of American deaf culture. For more information on Deaf History Month, contact the Wauseon Public Library at amurphy@seolibraries.org or call the library at 419-335-6626. For information on community services for the deaf, email dawn.watts7@gmail.com or call 614-515-6062.
