Members of the Bryan City Council met in regular session on the evening of May 2.

The first item of business pertained to the second reading of Ordinance 13-2016, accepting the preliminary plat for the upcoming extension of Woodstream Avenue and The Point at Greenfield project. “We have received absolutely no calls on this,” said City Engineer, Brian Wieland. With that, Council opted against the second reading, opting instead to suspend the rules of reading, and without dissent, directly enact the measure.

Fire Chief Bruce Siders asked for Council support of Ordinance 14-2016, a measure authorizing the purchase of a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe from Estle Chevrolet for $37,929. This vehicle will replace the Tahoe of the Assistant Chief. That vehicle was lost in an accident earlier this year.

Under Suspended rules of reading, Council unanimously approved the purchase.

In personnel moves approved by Council, Reed Thompson was hired as a Probationary Firefighter. Police officer Justin Garza was given a wage adjustment pertinent to his six-year anniversary, and Donna Distel was promoted to Dispatch Supervisor. Christy Moore was changed from Secretary 3 to Records Maintenance, Greg Grisier was moved from the Recycling Center to the Street Department, and Council consented to the posting of the vacant position at the Recycling Center.
