Fayette Schools is asking voters to approve 1.6 mills and scheduled two meetings in July in place of a school board meeting. The mills are expected to generate $1.4 million for the purpose of construction of Agriculture Ed addition and athletic complex for track, baseball, and softball.
The school is also seeking a 1.1-mill permanent improvement levy for the purpose of maintaining facilities.
Both the bond and levy are tied together on a single issue.
Attendance was light to say the least.
“We had two people there on the first night and one at the second meeting,” Superintendent Erik Belcher said. “Attitudes were very good. They wanted to understand the process and what the project entails. They were supportive but wanted to be educated from project to use.”
“All in all we were happy to talk to the folks and answer their questions,” Belcher said. “We would have liked to share with more people.
“I welcome anybody to call the school and we would be happy to sit down with them and answer any questions they may have.”
