On Monday, July 25, Travis Soto, 30, of Napoleon entered the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and asked to speak to an officer so that he could confess to a murder that occurred 10 years ago.

The incident occurred when Soto was living in Continental in 2006 and drove around a garage in an all-terrain vehicle, striking his two year old son, Julio Baldazo. The child died from the injuries a couple of hours later. Soto reportedly did not seek medical attention for the child during that time. As a result he was sentenced to five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, and five years probation for child endangerment for the incident, which he then claimed was accidental.

Now, 10 years later, Soto has decided to come clean about the incident and now confesses that the killing was intentional. Soto was arraigned on Wednesday, July 27 in Putnam County Municipal Court on charges of murder and tampering with evidence. Soto did not enter a plea and was ordered held in lieu of a half million dollar bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 2 at 1:30 PM in Putnam County Municipal Court.
