The Williams County Commissioners took the final step toward placing a senior services levy before voters on November 3, 2026, at their July 28, 2026, meeting.

Commissioners Scott Lirot, Bart Westfall, and Terry Rummel were in attendance.

The Board approved a resolution to proceed with submitting a 1.0-mill operating levy for the Williams County Department of Aging to voters on the General Election ballot this fall.

If approved, the five-year levy would provide funding for senior citizen services while also helping to maintain their department vehicles and senior centers.

The new levy would replace the department’s existing 0.5-mill and 0.1-mill levies when those expire, rather than adding to them. The millage collected would only increase by 0.40 in totality. The expected collection per year is $1,182,325.

The levy would first be collected in the calendar year 2027 if approved by voters.

“Even with this new money, it’s not going to be replacing any vehicles,” said Lirot. “So we’re still going to be as tight as we can with our finances on that place, and we’re going to have to figure out how we are going to replace vehicles along the way.”

In other business, Commissioners accepted the resignation of Robert Darrell Moore as Executive Director of Williams County Hillside Country Living.

According to the resolution, Moore submitted his resignation on July 28, 2026, and Commissioners accepted it effective August 2, 2026.

The Board also approved several resolutions with Job and Family Services. Two Title IV-E Contracts were approved as follows:

-Belmont Pines Hospital & RTC for child placement, for a total of $90,000

-The Village Network for child placement, for a total of $70,000

Two additional addendas with previously accepted JFS contracts were passed as follows:

-The Marsh Foundation, total increased by $20,000

-Ohio MHAS – Cornell Abraxas Group LLC, total increased by $4,898

Howard Hanna – Amanda Burmeister

A letter of engagement was also approved with the law firm Zashin & Rich to provide labor and employment law services for Williams County.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:03 a.m. The next Williams County Commissioner meeting is scheduled for July 30, 2026.
