Fayette, Ohio – One of the region’s most unique new performance groups, the Grande Royale Ukulelists of the Black Swamp drew their inspiration from the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.

This unique musical team will kick off the 2016-17 Fayette Guest Artist Series when they appear on stage at Fayette’s historic Opera House on Saturday, November 12th at 7:30 p.m.

The group made their debut as a quartet in the spring of 2013 in Bowling Green, Ohio by playing in a parking lot for a small gathering of friends at the Downtown Bowling Green Art Walk. Since then they have performed at the Black Swamp Arts Festival, Toledo Train Day, Lansing’s Mighty Uke Day, and the Coffee House Amici in Findlay to name a few. The group’s popularity has grown to the point that the group became the featured performer for the Art Walk two short years after their first parking lot impromptu concert.

The quartet plays all kinds of ukuleles, including a bass, tenor, baritone, sopranissimo, slide, resonator and eight string instruments.

The ensemble also plays all kinds of music from pop, rock, swing, folk country to show tunes. With a repertoire that includes everything from Belafonte to the Beatles, the group brings energy to the stage that is hard to match.

Their dedication to the art form includes performance, lessons, workshops and classes for all interested in the “Uke”.

The Fayette Arts Council has announced that the Grande Royale Ukulelists are the first concert of a presenter’s series that includes:
“An Old Tyme Acoustical Christmas” on December 4th, a “Mentors and Protégés” concert on January14th, the Tapestry Duo on February 25th, the “Black Swamp Chorus” on March 11th, “An Organists Palm Sunday Concert” on April 9th and concludes with a folk performance by nationally known singer Ben Bedford.

As always the concert will be followed by a post concert reception for the audience and the performers.

Tickets for the performance as well as Season Passes will be on sale at the door. Tickets may be reserved by calling and leaving a message at (419) 237-3111.
