Annabelle Harris (1911 – 2017)

Annabelle Harris, 106 years, of West Unity, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance. Annabelle was born March 3, 1911 in Williams County, Ohio the daughter of the late Willis and Mae (Myers) Smith. She married Glen R. Harris on November 3, 1935 in Williams County, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1985.

A devoted wife and mother, Annabelle cared for her family. She also assisted her husband mowing Floral Grove Cemetery. Annabelle liked to ride horses, gardening, cooking and baking pies. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds and was known for her pies. She loved to spend time with her family.

Surviving is her daughter, Saundra (Kennard) Grieser of Defiance; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glen; one son, Lavon Harris; one grandson, Brian Harris; one great-grandson, Neil Flory and four sisters and two brothers.

Visitation for Annabelle Harris will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Greg Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to the West Unity Senior Center.
