The village of Archbold will be making a promotional video to market itself to businesses looking for a new home and developers looking to build homes.

The board approved $10,000 for the production which will piggyback on efforts from the Fulton County Economic Development Office.
“We want to attract people for jobs and housing developers,” Donna Dettling, assistant to the village administrator said.

In other news, the council
-Authorized the village administrator and finance director to advertise for bids for contract 2-16 for curb reconstruction and street improvements to East Lugbill, Myers a West Barre Road. The work will include removing and replacing catch basins as well as improvements to a rail crossing.

Dettling said the city sees a lot of traffic from trucks and cars in the manufacturing area and the roads, especially Myers needs to be reconstructed.

-Approved refinancing $3.25 million in bonds to obtain a better interest rate. The refinanced bonds should come in at 2.25 percent and save the village $15,000 to $20,000 a year in interest payments, Dettling said.

-Accept the proposal from Farmers and Merchants State Bank to provide $1 million in 1-year bond anticipatory notes. The village decided to rollover the note instead of going for a bond because of the good rate (0.85 percent) it is getting, Dettling said.
