Archbold High School students recently presented “The Play That Goes Wrong”. The play was held on Saturday, November 9th at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, November 10th at 2:30 p.m.
For those who are not familiar with the show, the following was a synopsis included in the show’s playbill.
“From mischief, Broadway masters of comedy, comes this smash hit farce. Welcome to the opening night of The Cornley Drama Society’s newest production, The Murder at Haversham Manor, where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous.”
“This 1920s whodunit has everything you never wanted in a show – an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines).”
“Nevertheless, the accident-prone thespians battle against all odds to make it through to their final curtain call, with hilarious consequences! Part Monty Python, part Sherlock Holmes, this Oliver Award Winning comedy is a global phenomenon that’s guaranteed to leave you aching with laughter.”
One this is for sure. Some people who came to see the show definitely had the chance of leaving afterwards, aching from laughter.
The actors all played their parts very well, even when the idea was to play their parts not so well. It is one thing to try and put on a show the correct way, but to also have to act like you are messing up, especially with stage props purposefully falling apart, well that is another thing entirely.
As always, the acting was conducted very well by all involved, and the show was very funny, with many from the audience making this known throughout the evening show.
Well done and congratulations to everyone involved in the Archbold Schools production of “The Play That Goes Wrong”.
