CLASS OF 2024 … Archbold Rotary hosted the 110 member Archbold senior class on April 19 for the club’s annual Senior Day luncheon at Founder’s Hall. Former Archbold Rotary president and now the founder and CEO of In2Great, a leadership consulting company, Bob Borcherdt was the featured speaker. From left: Archbold seniors Madison Whaley, who plans to become a hair stylist; Mackenzie Brennan, who plans to attend Ohio State University and study industrial design; and Graceyn Stamm, who plans to attend Northwest State and major in English to become an editor, Bob Borcherdt, and Marc Fruth, who arranged the program. Also: Makaela Waites, a licensed cosmetologist who completed the Four Country Career Center cosmetology program and is now working in Napoleon. She eventually plans to study nursing in college. And, Kaylyn Woodby, who plans to attend Northwest State and study nursing.

Archbold’s senior class was challenged to follow five basic leadership steps as they embark on the next step of their life journey during Archbold Rotary’s annual Senior Day luncheon.

Former Sauder Manufacturing manager and Archbold Rotary president Bob Borcherdt delivered the presentation.

After leaving Sauder Manufacturing, Borcherdt founded a leadership consulting company called In2Great and last year published a book: Leading To The One: Creating cultures of clarity where people are engaged, developed and fulfilled.

He explained the five tools that the book sets forth. Specifically: (1) protect your mind, (2) choose good friends, (3) re-engage humanity, (4) pursue clarity, and (5) re-define success.

He encouraged the seniors to read because that’s the best way to build the neural maps that are stored in the brain. And it also presents opportunities to challenge those maps with new information.

Among your friends, he said it’s important to find a good mentor who is at least 50 years old or better. He explained that a good mentor can rely on their life experiences to offer insights that a same-aged peer hasn’t had.

Borcherdt and Archbold Rotary provided copies of his book to seniors who wanted to read more about using the “clarity based leadership model” that the book explains.
