ARCHBOLD SCHOOL BOARD: Board Accepts Resignation Of Elementary Principal

Archbold Board of Education began their meeting Monday, May 16, at 5:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Following a Roll Call, attendees stood for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Regular Meeting Minutes from April 18 were approved, along with the April Financial Reports.


With funds from both ESSER and a grant received from the Ohio Department of Education, Superintendent, Jayson Selgo, will begin to solicit bids for a new school bus.

Archbold High School will start upgrades of the HVAC systems with Beamont Heating and Cooling, using ESSER Funds.

Northwest Ohio Education Service Center provided the Paraprofessional Substitute list for the 2021-2022 school year, which the Board approved as presented.


Elementary Principal, Dorothy Lambert’s resignation was approved, effective July 31, 2022. Lambert has worked for Archbold Elementary for fifteen years, and twenty-two years for the school district.

Selgo stated, “She has spent countless hours serving the students of Archbold Schools and will be greatly missed.” Lambert will move on to work as a Literacy Coach for the NwOESC.

Archbold Area Schools welcomed new staff member Bailey Gerken, an AHS graduate, who will be teaching kindergarten next year.

A two-year contract for School Nurse, Karla Petersen was approved, beginning on August 1, 2022, through July 31, 2024.


Middle School Principal, Matt Shields, shared, “fifty-one eighth graders, along with four adult chaperones had a great experience in our Nations Capitol.”

Students visited the National Holocaust Memorial, enjoyed a Hudson River Dinner Cruise, and participated in the Arlington National Cemetery Wreath Laying Ceremony among many other things.

National Teacher Appreciation Week was celebrated with staff luncheons on Thursday, May 5 and Friday, May 6, courtesy of the Archbold Middle School and Central Offices.

Archbold’s one-hundred-thirteenth Commencement Ceremony will take place May 29, at 2:30 p.m. in the gym.

High School Principal, Royal Short, shared, “Prom and After Prom were a huge success. Thanks to all the junior parents who volunteered, and all community members who donated to this event for our students.”

Board of Education meeting was moved to an executive session to discuss the employment, compensation, promotion or demotion of public employees that began at 5:59 p.m.

As a result of the executive session, the Classified Operations Manual was approved, effective August 1, 2022, through July 31, 2025.
