ARCHBOLD – Archbold Lady Bluestreak softball player Tess Ames recently committed to further her education and to play softball at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio.

“I loved the atmosphere. It was a small school that was far enough away from home, but still close enough to come home for a weekend if need be”, said Ames when talking about choosing to attend Wilmington.

“I loved Coach Warren and Coach Taylor and what they stood for in the softball program. Overall, the entire college staff is very supportive and involved in the students’ lives, I felt like there were resources for every problem I could have.”

Ames, who first team All-NWOAL last season, said she heard about Wilmington while at a college fair and it peaked her interest due to the size and location of the school.

“I saw that Coach Warren was attending one of my tournaments this past summer. So, I sent her an email and she replied right away saying that she used to coach at Defiance College and was familiar with Archbold.”

“She said she would attend one of my games. From that point on, she did not miss many games after that. We kept in touch the whole summer and once the summer season ended, she sent me an invitation and date for an official visit.”

“I went and loved it. She told me their prospect camps are run just like their practices. I then registered for their playing camp that was on a Saturday in November to make sure I liked it, and I loved it. I verbally committed the Sunday right after”, she added.

Ames will be majoring in Sports Management with a minor in Athletic Training or Psychology.
