Seven Panthers participated in the event. For the Lady Panthers, Shi’Anna Whitman was the first amongst her teammates to cross the finish line, doing so at 22:08. Not too far behind, Megan Graber completed the race with a time of 22:15. Paige Speelman clocked in at 22:24 for Stryker as well. (September 16th, 2014)-BRYAN: Traveling to Orchard Hills in Bryan, The Indians of Wauseon challenged the Golden Bears on their home course in NWOAL action. The result was a decisive victory for the Indians, who took the road win by a convincing 22 strokes. As a unit, Wauseon shot a 166. Bryan put up a team score of 188. Trevor Dominique was the only player to shoot under 40 on the day, taking medalist honors with a 35. Teammates David Williams and Brady Rupp each added a 43 to the Wauseon score. Both sides fought ferociously, yet neither side could gain a true upper hand in the match. When all the dust had settled, the two teams had battled to a 1-1 tie. Scoring Pettisville’s only goal of the match was Jakob Waidelich. As a unit, the Blackbirds made 8 attempts at the Bulldog goal. Of Swanton’s 4 shots at the Pettisville net, only Nate Timpe’s kick went between the goal posts.

MONTPELIER- In what was the last NWOAL meeting between Montpelier and Liberty Center and possibly the final meeting ever, the host Locomotives made it a night to remember as they were able to seize opportunity when it came knocking. The Locos took advantage of two Liberty Center fumbles turning them into two touchdowns. Those visiting the Williams County Fair last week most likely walked by Nosey the Elephant who was giving rides during the fair. In a letter dated September 4, PETA sent an urgent letter to Eugene Wilson, Senior Fair Board President, Williams County Agricultural Society. The letter called on the Williams County Fair to cancel Nosey’s appearance at the fair. (September 13th, 2014)-PATRICK HENRY: Taking to the road, the girls of Stryker competed in a tri-match in Patrick Henry, where they took on the home town Patriots, as well as the Rams of Tinora. Tinora was up first for the Lady Panthers. Game 1 was a hard fought battle, but Stryker couldn’t pull off the win. They fell 20-25 to the Rams. The second set saw a let down by the Panthers, who lost the game 12-25. Against the Patriots, Stryker showed a bit more consistency. It wasn’t enough to secure a victory, however, as the Patriots took them down…

The Rams of Tinora were Stryker’s first opponent. They proved to be too much for the young Panthers, as they took game 1 25-14. Game 2 also saw the Lady Panthers lose, as the Rams enjoyed a 25-6 victory. Patrick Henry also defeated Stryker in straight sets, and, oddly, enough won by the same margins as Tinora in each set. Patrick Henry took game 1 25-14, and game 2 25-6.

They controlled the match, winning game 1 25-16. The second set was also a win for the Eagles, who took the set 25-13. The girls from North Central couldn’t get past Holgate, though. They battled hard in game 1, coming up just short as they lost the set 21-25. Game 2 also saw the Eagles lose, 15-25.

The Lady Locomotives fought hard, but fell behind Delta in game 1. Montpelier lost the set 15-25. They attempted to regroup and make a push in game 2. Delta was well prepared, however, and the Lady Locos were defeated in the second set 17-25.

The Blue Streaks took the victory with a collective score of 172. A single stroke behind them was second place Swanton. Montpelier came in third at the match, totaling 193 as a unit. Hunter Shanll was the lowest scorer for the Locos, firing a 43. Teammate Clay O’Neal offered up a 46. Fellow Locomotive Sam Rings shot a 48, and Andrew Luke a 56 to complete the Montpelier score.

The win took three sets to achieve, however, and all three of them were closely contested. Edon took the first set, barely pulling out the win at 26-24. The Lady Archers clawed their way back into the match, winning game 2 25-21. A tight third and decisive game was played to determine the winner of the match. Edon was able to come out on top 25-20.
