Get Carded At The Library Late August means back to school. Delta Public Library wants to encourage all students to get a card and/or update their library card so they can be ready to utilize it for computer usage as well as for books and other materials they may need throughout the school year. Members are encouraged to renew their annual membership and the auxiliary welcomes new members to join for a nominal annual dues donation. Auxiliary volunteers in pink jackets will be promoting membership and offering information about the auxiliary at Miller’s New Market, Whitaker Way, Montpelier, on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd. Joe Beck, Stryker Council Member, and Beth Rediger, Stryker Fiscal Officer, introduced a ballot issue to the Stryker Rotary Club on their regular meeting on Tuesday September 8, 2015. The two explained that the money borrowed for the sewer project will be paid off in July of year 2017. The money used to pay off this project comes primarily from a ½% income tax. This tax is a continuing tax where proceeds currently must be used for capital projects. Mr. King, along with current board member Dan Bruner have filed for election to for the two open positions on the board of education. Norman E. Riggs, 90 years of West Unity, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 in the home of his son, Steven, in Woodstock, Georgia. Norman was born May 8, 1925 in Leipsic, Ohio, the son of the late Ira and Clara (Yetter) Rigg. A High School graduate, Norman enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in World War II. He married Helen E. Rice on May 8, 1954, and she preceded him in death on September 10, 2003. Norman was a truck driver who transported Mobile Homes for many years. He was a life member of the West…

The Williams County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to identify this subject in connection to a complaint involving the new fountain at the courthouse. The subject is described as a white male wearing light brown pants and a dark shirt. The incident happened in the early morning hours of September 5, 2015. A lot of time, energy, and money went into the designing and building of the fountain. Please help our office identify this subject who was attempting to tamper with/damage the fountain. Donald E. Henry, Jr., age 85, of Metamora, Ohio, passed away Tuesday evening, September 8, 2015, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania.  He was born August 24, 1930 in Chesterfield Township to Donald E. and Velda L. UMP Late Model National Point leader Rusty Schlenk picked up an exciting American Late Model Series (ALMS) win after some late race heroics at Oakshade Raceway on Saturday night. Matt Miller got the advantage over J.R. Hotovy at the start of the 30-lap ALMS feature event. Miller, who has the most all-time ALMS feature wins at Oakshade with 12, led much of the race that was slowed multiple times for cautions. After 20 years of trying, a jubilant Brian Ruhlman finally was able to earn his first Oakshade Raceway UMP Late Model Track Championship with a feature win on Saturday night. The UMP Late Model Season Championship feature race was action-packed and wasn’t decided until the very end. Steve Kester started on the pole and led most of the 25-lap race. Earlier rain showers had left the track fast and tacky. Ruhlman positioned himself in second by lap four and pursued Kester most of the race. Hands of Grace Faith in Action is a Fulton County, non-profit ministry that serves the elderly and/or disabled residents in our community. Recently Hands of Grace was chosen as a grant recipient through ODOT for a new 2015 Handicapped Accessible Vehicle. Through the generous donation of matching funds from the Fulton County Health Center, as well as receiving funding from Fulton County United Way for our Transportation Program, Hands of Grace care recipients will realize the great benefit of independence. Army National Guard Pvt. Zane D. Eicher has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
