Joe Beck, Stryker Council Member, and Beth Rediger, Stryker Fiscal Officer, introduced a ballot issue to the Stryker Rotary Club on their regular meeting on Tuesday September 8, 2015. The two explained that the money borrowed for the sewer project will be paid off in July of year 2017. The money used to pay off this project comes primarily from a ½% income tax. This tax is a continuing tax where proceeds currently must be used for capital projects. Norman E. Riggs, 90 years of West Unity, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 in the home of his son, Steven, in Woodstock, Georgia. Norman was born May 8, 1925 in Leipsic, Ohio, the son of the late Ira and Clara (Yetter) Rigg. A High School graduate, Norman enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in World War II. UMP Late Model National Point leader Rusty Schlenk picked up an exciting American Late Model Series (ALMS) win after some late race heroics at Oakshade Raceway on Saturday night. Matt Miller got the advantage over J.R. Hotovy at the start of the 30-lap ALMS feature event. After 20 years of trying, a jubilant Brian Ruhlman finally was able to earn his first Oakshade Raceway UMP Late Model Track Championship with a feature win on Saturday night. The UMP Late Model Season Championship feature race was action-packed and wasn’t decided until the very end. Steve Kester started on the pole and led most of the 25-lap race. Earlier rain showers had left the track fast and tacky. Ruhlman positioned himself in second by lap four and pursued Kester most of the race. Hands of Grace Faith in Action is a Fulton County, non-profit ministry that serves the elderly and/or disabled residents in our community. Recently Hands of Grace was chosen as a grant recipient through ODOT for a new 2015 Handicapped Accessible Vehicle.
