Get Carded At The Library
Late August means back to school. Delta Public Library wants to encourage all students to get a card and/or update their library card so they can be ready to utilize it for computer usage as well as for books and other materials they may need throughout the school year. To get a new card, a parent or your legal guardian will need to accompany you to the library to fill out your card and sign it as your guarantor if you are under the age of 18 years old. Students must be at least 5 years old to acquire a card.
If you already have a library card, please check at the main desk to see if your information for address, phone and email are correct. All patrons have the option to leave their card on file at the library. If you wish to carry it with you, you must present it each time you check out materials. If lost, we require a $5.00 fee to get a new card. We strongly suggest that students do not allow others to use their card or give out their patron number/password. You may risk the likelihood of misuse by others and become libel for large fines on non-returned materials or loss of future computer privileges. Just a reminder that fines must be kept under the amount of $1.00 to keep your card valid and usable to borrow materials or use computers.
A big thank you to all our sponsors and donors for the Summer Reading incentive prizes. The Hero themed T-shirts, gift cards, craft supplies, program presenters and food were all greatly appreciated by the children, teens and adults who participated. You are our Heroes!
Friends Of The Library Update
All members of the Delta Public Library or those interested in joining the group or volunteering for the upcoming fundraiser are invited to attend the next meeting on September 15th at 6:30 pm in the library’s Activity Room.
The annual Luncheon and Chinese Auction will be held on Thursday November 19th at the Delta American Legion. The public will again have the opportunity to view baskets, buy tickets and make selections for the drawings on the evening of Wednesday November 18th from 5-7 pm.
The Library is currently taking donations for baskets. We are also looking for volunteers to help with calling for food donations, preparing food, working in the kitchen the day of the auction, help with transporting items from Library to the Legion the day before the auction, and securing donations from the community for the auction. If you would like to help out in some way but are unable to attend the September 15th meeting, you can leave your name and phone number at the Library’s main circulation desk.
Mark your calendars for the day of the Luncheon/Auction and call your friends! You don’t want to miss out on all the fun, food and fellowship.
