PETTISVILLE (April 13, 2026) — Edon spotted Pettisville an early 3-0 lead but scored in five of the next six innings to leave town with a 14-5 non-conference win
“We started off a little slow and then we kicked it into high gear,” Edon head coach Tanner Sanders said. I tell the girls as long as you put the ball in play things will happen and that’s what they did.”
Edon opened the game by loading the bases in the first inning, but Pettisville pitcher Macy Hoylman got the final out on a flyout to center field to thwart the Edon threat.
Hoylman came to the plate in the bottom of the first and reached on a double to right field. Naomi Richer followed with a double in almost the same spot to score Hoylman to take a 1-0 lead.
Bailey Booth decided to clear the bases, launching an Alexis Breier pitch over the left-field fence for a home run and a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
From the second inning on, Edon took control of the game. Alysa Smith opened the inning with a ground ball that Richer could not handle.
Amanda Schwartz followed with a ground ball that split the middle into center field, but an error allowed A. Smith to round the bases and score Edon’s first run of the game.
Schwartz, who moved to second on the error, moved to third on a fielder’s choice and then scored on a groundout by Avery Aldrich to cut into the Pettisville lead, 3-2.
Breier settled into a groove on the mound and held the Blackbirds scoreless in the second to set up the go-ahead inning for the Bombers.
Madison Ogden started the third with a laser shot down the third-base line for a double. Nevaeh Smith sent a single into center field that scored Lydia Tracey, who was pinch running for Ogden.
A throwing error by the center fielder allowed Nevaeh Smith to round the bases and score to give the Bombers a 4-3 lead.
After a pair of pop-outs, Alysa Smith started another Edon rally with a two-out single. Schwartz doubled to center to score Alysa Smith, then came home on an Osborn grounder to make the score 6-3.
Pettisville scored a run in the inning after Richer reached on a single and Booth reached on an error. Booth stole second base with the throw getting away from the second baseman, which allowed Richer to score to pull the Birds closer, 6-4.
Edon got that run back in their half of the fourth inning when Nevaeh Smith singled to left, moved to second on a fielder’s choice and scored on a single by Kaylynn Bartlett for a 7-4 lead.
Breier tossed another scoreless inning for the Bombers, stifling the Pettisville bats.
Edon loaded the bases on a pair of singles and a hit batter in the top half of the fifth. Hoylman got Aldrich to pop out to the third baseman to hold the runners.
Breier slapped a single to left to score two runs. After getting their second out, Edon moved Breier into scoring position on a steal of second.
Ogden was hit by a pitch to put runners on at first and second. Breier and Tracey, pinch running for Ogden, moved up a base on a defensive indifference with N. Smith at bat.
Nevaeh Smith brought them home when she blasted a ball over the center-field fence for a home run to make it 12-4.

The Bombers (4-6) scored their final runs of the game in the top of the seventh.
Nevaeh Smith reached base on a double and came home after Briner singled to center. Briner then came home after Bartlett tripled to center for a 14-4 lead.
Pettisville (1-6) scored a run on a Richer double that scored Genter but stalled from that point for the 14-5 final score.
“We’ve got a young pitching staff,” Sanders said. “There’s some things to work on but (Breier) was pretty dominant most of the game.”
