The Black Swamp Arts Council (BSAC) honored the recipients of their 2016 Summer Arts Scholarships, at an awards ceremony held on Monday, June 6, at the Shalom Counseling and Mediation Center in Archbold. BSAC awarded scholarship totaling $3,350 to 14 individuals from 11 different schools who plan to attend summer camps or workshops related to the arts.

This year’s recipients will attend camps and programs at sites including: Nutmeg Conservatory Summer Dance Intensive (Torrington, Connecticut), Belmont University String Crossings Camp (Nashville, TN), Broadway Dance Center Summer Intensive (NY, NY), Lambec Music Camp (Pennsylvania), Young Composers Program at Cleveland Institute of Music, Columbus College of Art and Design, HFCC Performing Arts Company (Plymouth, MI), BGSU Summer Music Institutes (which includes Brass Camp and Recording Camp), Ohio Scottish Arts Camp at Oberlin College, Wooster College Music Camp, and Private voice and piano lessons. “It is exciting to talk with these talented students and hear about their upcoming summer opportunities. We feel honored to be a part of their journey as they continue to develop their love of the arts and their technical and creative skills. These students have demonstrated not only artistic talent, but strength of character and a solid work ethic which will help them be successful where ever the future leads them”, stated Diane Tinsman, BSAC Board President.
