The Bryan City Schools Board of Education approved financial agreements, two University of Toledo psychology interns, and the resignations of two Integrated Science Teachers as they move onto bigger roles within the school. The meeting was held Monday, June 8, 2026, at 6 p.m.
Members Ben Camarillo, Deb Opdycke, Dustin Schlachter and Caleb Turnbull were in attendance. Superintendent Mark Rairigh and Treasurer Kevin Schafer were also present.
The Board accepted the resignation of Integrated Science Teacher Matthew Kaullen, who was later approved for his new role as 9-12 Assistant Principal. Jason Brown, former middle school Integrated Science Teacher, will also be transferring into the role as the Athletic Director for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
Several other resignations were accepted during the June meeting as follows:
-Jennifer Redhead, HS Head Cheerleading Advisor
-Heidi Brown, JH Cheer Advisor, transitioning to HS Head Cheerleading Advisor
-Michele King, Bus Driver
-Nancy Rusk, PK-5 Food Service Server
– Tammy Elliot, Educational Aide
– Dazi Psurny, Educational Aide
Among the financial items approved were the district’s monthly financial report, permanent appropriations for fiscal years 2026 and 2027, and several service agreements for the upcoming school year.
These included a speech pathology contract with St. Patrick’s, an educational agreement with the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention Training and Rehabilitation Center, a SORSA agreement, and a hiring and records contract with Red Rover covering fiscal years 2027 through 2030.
Board members then approved the transfer of $167,110.07 from the Permanent Improvement Fund to the Classroom Maintenance Fund in accordance with a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission.
Donations were also accepted from Lana Newcomer, who contributed $50 to the elementary library in memory of Sherry Newman. Bard Manufacturing donated $100 to the athletic department in memory of Joe Garza.
Additional approvals included revisions to the 2026-2027 Preschool Handbook, a student teaching MOU with Defiance College, and an educational affiliation agreement with the University of Toledo for a school psychologist internship program.
Two University of Toledo students, Reagan Fisher and Zoe Castillo, were approved to serve as a school psychologist extern and intern.
The Board then entered executive session at 6:24 p.m., to discuss the discipline of an employee and/or compensation of employees. No action was taken, and the meeting adjourned at 8:29 p.m.
A short BCS Records Commission was also held on June 8, 2026.
School Board member Dustin Schlachter, Superintendent Mark Rairigh, and Treasurer Kevin Schafer were in attendance.
After approving the minutes from the December 9, 2024, session, no new business was presented to the commission. The meeting adjourned directly afterwards at 5:55 p.m.
