Jefferson Township Trustees met in regular session on Monday, June 15 at 7 p.m. with trustees Brian Batterson and Austin Poynter present with Scott Oberlin absent. Fiscal Officer Linda Beck was also present.
Trustees approved the minutes of the June 1 meeting and reviewed and approved timesheets for township employees.
Last month, the township applied for an Ohio Transportation Economic Development Grant for $550,000 to do paving and drainage work on Selwyn Drive from State Route 15 to County Road 15 covering 1.2 miles.
The township would be notified of the state’s decision to award the grant hopefully by the end of the month.
In other matters, the township received an email from Montpelier Fire Chief Brian Fritsch to discuss the total volume of fire calls and the fire contract with the township.
“Really, I don’t have any type of disagreement or anything with him, so much as if he is sending us a letter saying maybe we can look at an opportunity for some options,” said Poynter.
Batterson suggested inviting Fritsch to a public meeting on Monday, July 20 at the township hall.
Trustees discussed the drainage problem on the corner of County Roads 16 and M with Ed Kellogg Farm Drainage, LLC of Edon having been out and looked at it.
Poynter said the township will be needing a price quote from Kellogg Farm Drainage by next month to get the project done by August or September.
The township will hold its refuse collection days on Friday, August 7 from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday, August 8 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Next meeting will be on Monday, July 6 at 7 p.m.
