The Bryan Board of Public Affairs met on September 5, 2023 at 5 p.m. After the pledge of allegiance, they approved the minutes of the Aug. 15, 2023 meeting as presented.

The Board was then presented with slides covering natural gas supply discussing a transaction confirmation for immediate delivery, detailing the semantics of three proposed options.

Storage option number one was recommended and adopted by way of Resolution 15-2023.

Then approved was Resolution 16-2023, which authorized the submission of a “non-binding letter of interest” for the USDA New ERA Grant Program for upcoming renewable energy projects.

Then approved was a donation of trees for the Department of Parks and Recreation for park and conservation, with 2022 having planted 103 trees, with the BPA supporting 25% of them.

Then approved was a request to hire a new probationary account clerk for the utility office to start on September 18, 2023 and the promotion of a water department employee off of probationary status to Water Treatment Operator Trainee.

A motion was made to approve the bills as presented before the Board made their closing comments, where the two employees were congratulated on their success, as were the departments for qualifying and certifying employees.

Councilor Karen Ford then asked for an update on the power outages seen last month, and it was reported that these issues are not thought to be on-going, with the location of those outages being hard to reach contributing to the longer restoration times.

The Bryan Board of Public Affairs then entered into recess until their joint executive session with the Bryan City Council at 6:15 p.m.
