(PRESS RELEASE / THE VILLAGE REPORTER)
GUEST SPEAKER … Becky McGuire, Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences of the Ohio State University Extension in Williams County spoke to the Bryan Rotary Club. McGuire gave an overview of the extension and her responsibilities. Since 1914, the Extension has been helping all Ohioans build better lives, better businesses and better communities. Programs include 4-H Youth Development, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Community Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, Master Gardener Volunteers, and SNAP-Ed. In her role with Family and Consumer Sciences, McGuire directs programs helping three areas, Healthy People (nutrition, food budgeting), Healthy Relationships (mental health, family connections) and Healthy Finances (job/life skills, workforce preparation). She works with the local pantries creating easy recipes including helping those who live alone and helping to stay within a budget. The OSU Extension vision is that Ohioans have the knowledge and resources they need to actively engage in creating conditions in which they thrive.
