Bryan, Wauseon Turn In Solid Efforts At Division II Swimming Sectionals

AYERSVILLE (February 14, 2026) – Bryan and Wauseon turned in numerous solid performances at the Division II sectional swim meet held at Ayersville High School.

The Golden Bears captured the boys sectional team title with 359 points followed by Napoleon (265), Ayersville (245), Ottawa-Glandorf (235), Ottawa Hills (193) and Wauseon (158). Archbold was 11th with 27 points.

Leading the way for Bryan was the 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay teams who took sectional titles in those events.

The 200 medley relay of Griffin Boehm, Logan Slattery, Brendan Roberts and Carter Luce took top honors with a time of 1:42.13. The 200 freestyle relay of Slattery, Boehm, Luce and Roberts prevailed with a time of 1:31.13. The 400 freestyle relay of Zac Schafer, Roberts, Luce and Will McCann captured the event with a time of 3:24.74.

Despite a runner-up finish in the 100 backstroke, Boehm established a new school record in the event with a time of 56.02 seconds. He also placed sixth in the 100 freestyle (51.39).

Second place finishers for Bryan were Joshua Sampson in the 500 freestyle (5:06.31), and Luce in the 50 freestyle (23.45). Sampson also finished fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:54.69).

Other top individual performances for the Golden Bears were Slattery, who placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.67), and 200 freestyle (1:52.58). McCann was third in the 200 IM (2:08.07) and fifth in the 100 freestyle (51.06).

Roberts was third in the 100 fly (56.97). Schafer was third in the 50 freestyle (23.48) and seventh in the 100 freestyle (52.52). Ethan Bailey was fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:02.44) and Simon Kellogg was sixth in the 200 IM (2:21.47).

Malachi Reeder led Wauseon with a pair of sectional runner-up finishes. Reeder finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:46.07) and 100 freestyle (48.44).

Other top individual efforts for the Indians were Clay Wasnich was finished third in the 500 freestyle (5:13.40). Tristan Pena placed eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.33).

The 400 and 200 freestyle relay teams of Wasnich, Miles Colon, Pena and Reeder placed third (3:33.09) and fourth (1:37.93) respectively.

Zach Krueger of Archbold placed fourth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:27.36.

On the girls side, Napoleon claimed the sectional team title with 422 points followed by Ottawa-Glandorf (361), Bryan (304 ½), Ottawa Hills (262), Coldwater (191), Van Wert (135) and Wauseon (129) rounding out the top team finishers.

Highlighting the girls meet was a pair of sectional record-setting performances established by the Bryan 200 medley relay team and Bryan senior standout Nora Kunsman in the 50 freestyle.

The 200 medley relay took first place with a new sectional record time of 1:53.26 consisting of Nora Kunsman, Emma Elkins, Jalyn Mojica and Annie Kunsman.

Nora Kunsman, who set a new sectional record in winning the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.02 seconds, also captured the 100 freestyle in 53.34 seconds.

The Lady Bears 200 freestyle relay of Annie Kunsman, Nadia Moore, Elkins and Nora Kunsman took first place with a time of 1:44.80.

Other top individual efforts for the Lady Bears included Annie Kunsman, who was third in the 50 freestyle (26.48). Moore was fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:10.81). Elkins was fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.15). Mojica placed fifth in the 100 fly (1:07.28). Lydia Meeks was ninth in the 500 freestyle (6:03.55).

In the relay events, the Lady Bears 400 freestyle relay of Moore, Drew Smith, Annie Kunsman and Mojica placed fifth with a time of 4:02.45.

Ella Bourn led Wauseon with a fourth place finish in the 100 back (1:07.52) and took eighth in the 200 IM (2:33.22).

Other top individual performances for the Lady Indians were Molly Case who finished seventh in the 100 freestyle (1:00.28) and eighth in the 100 breast (1:20.43). Hayden Konieczka was eighth in the 500 freestyle (5:58.07).

Wauseon’s 200 and 400 freestyle relays both finished sixth. The 200 freestyle relay of Bentlei Rocha, Case, Bourn and Konieczka (1:53.34) and the 400 freestyle relay of Bourn, Case, Konieczka and Rocha (4:12.05).

The following is a list of district qualifiers from Bryan and Wauseon. The district meet will be held on Friday, February 20 at Bowling Green State University.

BRYAN – Girls
50 freestyle – Nora Kunsman, Annie Kunsman, Drew Smith; 100 freestyle – Nora Kunsman, Nadia Moore; 200 freestyle – Moore, Emma Elkins; 500 freestyle – Lydia Meeks; 100 breast – Elkins, Sidney Luce; 100 fly – Jalyn Mojica; 200 IM – Luce; RELAY TEAMS: 200 free, 400 free, 200 medley.

BRYAN – Boys
50 freestyle – Carter Luce, Zac Schafer; 100 freestyle – Griffin Boehm, Schafer; 200 freestyle – Logan Slattery, Joshua Sampson; 500 freestyle – Sampson, Khris Alspaugh, Simon Kellogg; 100 back – Boehm, Ethan Bailey; 100 breast- Slattery; 100 fly – Brendan Roberts; 200 IM – Will McCann, Kellogg; RELAY TEAMS – 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 200 medley.

WAUSEON – Girls
100 freestyle – Molly Case; 200 freestyle – Hayden Konieczka; 500 freestyle – Konieczka; 100 breast – Case; 200 IM – Ella Bourn; RELAY TEAMS – 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay.

WAUSEON – Boys
100 freestyle – Malachi Reeder, Miles Colon, Tristan Pena; 200 freestyle- Colon; 500 freestyle – Clay Wasnich; 100 breast – Pena; RELAY TEAMS – 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle.

ARCHBOLD – Boys
Zach Krueger – 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle.
